Who's who in Premier Home Services?

The person who organises and supervises the work of its Care Workers on a daily basis is Janice Hawkes who is the Registered Manager.  Janice has worked within the Social Care Department of the Local Authority for the last thirteen years as a Care Worker, Senior Carer, NVQ Assessor and trainer.  She has an NVQ Level 3 in Caring and is in the process of completing Level 4.  She is able to undertake needs assessments and risk assessments and is responsible for the day-to-day organising of care work and care workers.  Overall responsibility for the management of the Premier Home Services lies with the Managing Director, Chris Hawkes.

Care Workers

We recognise that for most service users the most important people in our organisation are the Care Workers with whom service users will have regular contact. We will take great care in recruiting, training and supervising our staff.  All of our staff will undergo a rigorous recruitment and selection process, where detailed interviews are carried out, along with references and Criminal Records Bureau Checks.  All ‘gaps’ in employment are investigated and all applicants are made aware that if references and checks are unsatisfactory then their application will be rejected.

Following the recruitment and selection process all staff will undergo a thorough induction process where all of our policies and procedures are explained. Care Workers who are in need of further training then undergo a further three month induction period where they work through the ‘Social Care Induction Framework’ as specified by the Care Council for Wales which gives them a solid grounding in caring knowledge and skills.  Those Care Workers who already have appropriate caring skills, experience and qualifications will undertake our own induction but will not be allowed to provide care on their own until they have been deemed fit to do so by the Registered Manager

All staff employed by Premier Home Services are recruited on a three-month probationary period, where all employees are subject to continual evaluation and supervision. At the end of the probationary period, all staff have their employment confirmed in writing following a three-month review supervision meeting, where all aspects of their performance are discussed.  Should any serious issues be raised from this supervision meeting, then the member of staff will be informed and the probationary period extended.

Following the completion of their three-month probationary period members of staff are encouraged to undertake further training and are given frequent updates to their current knowledge and skills.  We believe that qualifications are an essential tool in developing a quality, motivated workforce and every effort is made for staff to pursue this route in their career.  Some of the qualifications held by our staff are:

All our Care Workers are directly employed by Premier Home Services.  We do not use agency or sub-contracted staff.
